IRA Minimum Required Distributions *

If you are at least 72 years old, have an IRA, and plan to donate to charity this year, we encourage you to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) to our church. With a QCD, you can withdraw from an IRA without any tax consequences. Please note that you will need to contact the firm that holds or manages your IRA to use their required form. If you have questions, call our church office at (208) 232-2000.

Stock or Property Divestment *

When you have a stock or property that you want to divest from and avoid paying taxes upon, turn to the financial experts of Central Christian Church Pocatello Idaho. Our Funds

We ask individuals and families to prayerfully consider how they wish to give to our church. Each of our financial support streams allows us to expand our mission and ministry while bearing witness to God’s love. We are grateful for every gift we receive, which reflects God’s generosity in our own lives. Our various funds include:

General Fund

Gifts given to our General Fund support our daily needs, such as:”

• Staff Compensation
• Payments for Heating and Cooling Bills
• Funding for Ongoing Ministries and Programs
• Payments for Our Daily Expenses

Mission Fund

This includes outreach funds for local mission partners and the Disciples Mission Fund (DMF). The DMF finances our regional and general church ministries and higher education institutions.

Each fall, we also have a stewardship campaign that culminates in a celebration of the estimates of giving we received for the upcoming year’s General Fund. Our Stewardship Department prepares our General Fund budget (line item and narrative) using input from our ministry leaders and staff, insight from past years, and our hopes for the future. The Church Board then approves this budget before it is presented for congregational approval.

Memorial and Endowment Funds

Our stewards work with the Christian Church Foundation to responsibly invest gifts given to our two endowment funds (totaling approximately $300,000 over the long term). They also partner with families in honoring their loved ones through gifts given to our Memorial Funds in the short term.

When you look at the book where our usher stands, you will see the generosity of friends and families who have given both types of gifts. These allow us to creatively and courageously expand our ministry in ways beyond our current daily programming.

Our Current Endowment Funds

Gifts of any size given to any of the following funds will help build resources that will serve our church far beyond our present reach and strengthen the witness of generations to come:

• Central Christian Endowment Fund - Earnings are distributed annually according to the recommendations of the Endowment Committee according to our policies.
• Madrid Family Endowment Fund - Earnings are distributed annually according to the recommendations of the Endowment Committee according to our policies.

To create a new fund, contact our pastor who will help you request assistance from the Christian Church Foundation.

Policy Summary

25% of a collected fund is immediately available for use when our church receives a large bequeath in excess of $50,000. The remainder is invested with the Christian Church Foundation as a permanent fund managed in perpetuity for the ministries of our church. Over the last 20 years, we have used these funds to:

  • Provide resources for one-time efforts.
  • Finance different missions and program ventures.
  • Finance major renovations that were made to our church in 2015.

Our Endowment/Memorial Committee periodically reviews our available funds and responds to requests for fund use. The last recommendation approved by the board involves Endowment Funds being utilized for the calling and resettling of our new minister.

Extended Properties

In addition to our church facility, we own adjacent properties that provide us with control of 70% of the block where we are located. We also manage six residential rental units, half of which are used to house staff members involved in church operations. For the other three units, we are required to pay property taxes. To develop different revenue streams, these properties generate general upkeep and maintenance funds for their management and some church operations.
